Road on Yamuna bed
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) on December 20, 2019 directed a committee comprising Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB), the state’s irrigation department and Mathura’s district magistrate (DM) to look into illegal construction of a road on the bed of river Yamuna in Vrindavan, between Shringarvat and Keshi Ghat.
Illegal constructions included multistoried buildings on the active floodplains and riverbed in the town.
Industries polluting Faridabad
The NGT on December 20 directed Haryana Pollution Control Board to look into illegal industries being run by Risingtech Industries, Flicker India, Metal Life and Metal Care at Faridabad and submit a factual and action-taken report (ATR) within a month.
Dairy farms in Sikandra green space
The NGT on December 20 directed the UPPCB and the Agra DM to look into cattle sheds and dairy farms near the green belt area and parks around Ram Ji Dham Colony and Rishipuram Colony in Sikandra. The authorities have been asked to submit an ATR within a month.
Stone crushers in Ramban
The NGT on December 20 directed a committee comprising the Central Pollution Control Board, Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Board and Ramban’s DM to report on illegal operations of stone crushers and hot-mix plants in the district within a month.
Twenty-six stone crushers and hot-mix plants allegedly operate illegally in the area and dump residual matter into river Chenab.
