Now it is possible to experience life beneath the ocean on your computers.
A team of researchers from the James Cook University (JCU) has developed ocean mapping technology which makes it possible to view the underwater landscape.
The team devoted three years to produce a three dimensional, high resolution map of the ocean floor off Queensland, stretching from the tip of Cape York to northern New South Wales.
Through this map people can view the ocean floor of the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea.
JCU’s marine geologist Dr Rob Beaman said map “gives the public a chance to see the complexity of the sea floor”.
